The BEST Jeans, According To Your Calf Shape

'The Stilt' Cigarette Leg Jeans

Sandals let you dip a toe into summer trends, but it’s your ankles that get that first taste of spring. After all, hiking up a hem is a pretty low-touch way to start showing skin. But, no cuff is universal — there are as many crops and cuts as there are leg shapes, and we’re breaking down both. You see, each leg deserves its own special treatment, the exact hem that'll let it shine. Whether you're walking around on a pair fit for a soccer star, or one shaped like the letter V, you may be doing it in the wrong pants. Cut it out, ahead.

The Soccer Legs
Chances are you've studied gymnastics, have been in dance classes for as long as you could walk, or are, as the name suggests, a soccer player. But, even for those who don't fit those descriptions, your calves are strong and muscular. There's lots of definition, although the widest — and sometimes toughest-to-fit — part is at the top of the calf, where most of the bulk is.

'710' Super Skinny Jeans

Crop: Just above the ankle.
While your ankles may taper, aim for jeans that stick to a straighter line. A slim-fit pair is great for showing off your shapely, powerful legs, but instead of anything with too much stretch (think jeggings), look for jeans that are stiffer and straighter.
The Long & Lean
Though a lithe leg shape like this one is defined, it lacks the noticeable curve that appears in some other leg shapes between the upper and lower calf. The area below the knee is a bit rounded, but overall, the leg has the appearance of a long, seamless line, with the bottom tapering into a slim ankle.

Crop: Two-Thirds Down Your Calf
The more willowy your leg, the higher you can crop your pants. A high crop also lengthens your frame, meaning you can ditch heels and opt for a flat, sneaker, or loafer. Here, we chose a chunky black lace-up to contrast with the model's monochromatic look.
The Column
Of all the leg shapes, yours has the least amount of distinction between calf and ankle. While your legs may have curves and definition, generally the width of your ankle and calf are almost one and the same.

Crop: Low down on the ankle.
We often suggest that the most flattering point for your jeans to end is by the slimmest part of your leg. But, that's not as easy to determine when your leg measurements are all fairly equal. Look for silhouettes with a wider cut that don't outline one specific part of the calf and crop super low on the ankle — think of them as intentional high-waters. Pair with a heel to elongate your legs.
The Lollipop
Your calf shape falls somewhere between The Long & Lean and The Soccer Legs. But, the difference lies in proportion: All your width is focused right below the knee at the top of your calf. The rest of your leg is slim, including your ankle.

Moto 'Jamie' Ripped Crop Jeans

Crop: Right beneath your widest measurement.
While a cropped jean would generally never land on the upper calf — that's carpi territory — you can look for one that's a bit higher. Make sure it falls below the widest part of your leg but also shows off a bit of your lower calf, which helps to elongate the whole leg. A cropped flare is a great choice because it widens at the bottom and contrasts with the uppermost part of your calf.
The V
There is some curve in your leg, but generally it resembles the letter V. It's widest at the top and slimmest at the ankle, and the area between is a steady slope.

Crop: Mid-ankle.
A lower crop is more flattering on this calf shape, because the lower you go, the slimmer the part of the ankle it will hit. But, in addition to crop height, an important tip for this shape is to try a generous cuff on a loose-fit jean. While baggy denim is on trend, turned-up legs actually add some width toward the bottom on your calf and balance everything up top — creating a flattering proportion.

Skip the Jeans! Here Are 12 Fresh Ways to Wear Your Fall Sweaters

Everyone gets stuck in a style rut sometimes, whether it's wearing the same pair of boots all Winter or wearing the same black skinny jeans week after week. As we head into a long Winter and dig out those cozy sweaters, one question comes to mind: what the heck do we wear them with?

The obvious answer would be jeans (black high-waisted skinnies if you're like me). That, however, seems a little like the easy way out, and with so many inspirations from the Fall 2015 runways, we want to challenge ourselves to go beyond denim. While we still love our jeans to death — from flared to boyfriend cuts — it is time to step up our game. We came up with 12 different ways to embrace #sweater weather, but our beloved jeans will sit this round out.

How to Take Care of Your Leather Jacket

A leather jacket is to your wardrobe what a BeyoncĂ© track is to your workout: critical. Whether it’s colored leather or classic black, this throw-on-and-go essential is the foundation of every It-girl’s closet.
However, unlike your other favorite fashion pieces, a leather cover-up requires a certain amount of TLC. You can’t just toss it in the wash, or carelessly soak in detergent overnight to remove stains. If you want to freshen up that jacket, and keep it looking new for more than a couple of seasons, you’ll need to know these six tips.
1. Remember that prevention is always better than a cure.
If your jacket is still brand new and unworn, make sure you protect your investment before wearing it out. Think about it—you wouldn’t drive an uninsured car, right?
Spending just five minutes waterproofing your leather jacket will help protect from water damage (obviously), but also make the fabric more resistant to stains–Meltonian Water and Stain Protector ($5.20) will do the job. Before you go ahead and waterproof the whole jacket, spot test somewhere hidden (like under the arm).
If it’s too late, and you’ve already worn your jacket out without waterproofing, just skip right to steps two, and then circle back to step one right at the end of your process. It also doesn’t hurt to re-waterproof every few months, after you clean your jacket.
2. Let water stains dry naturally.
If you accidentally get caught in the rain, or spill some water on yourself, don’t try and throw your leather or suede jacket in the dryer, and don’t spot-dry with a hair-dryer. The direct heat will damage the leather. Instead, we recommend you hang the damp piece somewhere light and airy and allow water to dry out naturally.
3. Use alcohol to remove ink stains.
There are few things more annoying than dropping a black pen on your cream leather jacket–but there is a cheap and easy fix. Plain old rubbing alcohol (also called Isopropyl alcohol if you’re looking for it in the store) is great at removing ink stains from smooth leather, but don’t try this on suede, which is best left for a professional dry cleaner.
Use a white cotton cloth, avoiding colored cloth as the dye may run, soaked with alcohol and blot the stain gently until the ink has faded. Be careful here, scrubbing to hard could fade the color of your leather.

4. Freeze your jacket to freshen it up.
After a few wears, your jacket will probably be begging for a clean, but might not be quite ready for a trip to the dry-cleaner. To remove odor, kill lingering bacteria, and give the piece a general freshen-up, simply wrap your cover-up in a plastic bag and pop it in the freezer overnight.
5. Apply a leather conditioner.
After following any of the above tips, make sure you finish by applying a leather conditioner, this will keep the leather soft and supple, and help stop it from drying out and cracking. Before you apply all over, do a spot test to make sure the conditioner doesn’t remove any dye from the fabric.
6. Store somewhere cool and dry.
Once you’re happy with your clean jacket, keep it somewhere cool and dry to avoid damage from mold and mildew.

"My Husband Hates When I Wear Makeup"

Though some people (incorrectly) assume that women who wear makeup are trying to please men, Redditor But_ilovemakeup actually has the opposite problem: Her husband has been pressuring her not to put it on.

She became a bit of a makeup fanatic a few years ago, watching tutorials and constantly practicing different techniques. During that phase, her husband would tell her she didn't need makeup, but then would drop it. She eventually put the hobby on the back burner after she had her son.

Now, she has started wearing makeup again, though to a lesser extreme—just foundation, concealer, mascara, and eyeshadow—and her husband has a problem with it. "You look so much better without that stupid makeup," "You might as well throw some flour on your face!", and "I hate makeup" are a few comments she's heard from him.

"I've told him before it's what makes me feel confident and happy," she writes. "I don't know why all of a sudden he's making rude comments. He never did before. What else can I say so he stops making the rude comments? Why could he be making these all of a sudden?"

Here's how other Redditors advised she should respond to him:

"You are being very rude. Do not speak to me like that." —LittleMissP

"It's becoming a regular occurrence that you make a rude comment whenever I wear makeup. Can we talk about what the problem is? Because it's very hurtful and stressful to continually hear nasty comments from my spouse." —bugsdoingthings

"When you wear a suit and tie, you want to look nice and present yourself at your best. That doesn't mean it's for other women or even for anyone else at all. It can just be for yourself to feel confident. That's what makeup is to me. It's my proverbial suit and tie." —Alysaria

Some had concerns about the relationship based on her husband's comments.

"Have you considered that controlling your partner's appearance is an abusive trait in a relationship? This is a pretty big red flag. Are there any other controlling/angry/unfair aspects to his behavior towards you?" —black_rose_raven

"He has noticed it makes you more confident, therefore more attractive to other men. He might feel threatened/insecure. Sit him down and ask him flat out why. Tell him his comments hurt you." —syruup

Bangladesh now world's second largest knitted goods manufacturer

According to the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), the country exported 7.78 billion pieces of knitted items such as T-shirts and sweaters in 2010 compared with Turkey's 7.74 billion pieces.
"We overtook Turkey as the world’s second largest knitwear manufacturer last year. Volume-wise, we are now only second to China," BKMEA first vice-president Md Habibur Rahman told the Financial Express.
Mr. Rahman said Turkey was still ahead of Bangladesh in terms of value as it exported knitted goods worth $6.92 billion last year, compared with Bangladesh's $6.19 billion.
"Our apparel export has been growing at an impressive 40% rate in the current fiscal year. If the growth continues at this rate, we can beat Turkey in values by next fiscal year," he said.
Mr. Rahman also said that Turkish knitted goods manufacturers produced high-value added products such as sportswear, catering to western fashion retailers, while Bangladesh mainly operated in low value products such as T-shirts.
"We are in the knitwear business since the 1990s. By contrast, Turkey has been a major garment maker since the Second World War. They don't take cheap orders because of high labour cost," he added.
According to the report, Turkey has also emerged as an important apparel market for Bangladesh in recent years with shipments peaking at 65% in 2009 to $108 million.
The report goes on to say that, despite steady erosion of its competitive advantages, China remains the world's largest knitwear (knit goods) and woven garment manufacturer, accounting for around half of the world's $500 billion apparel market.

Why is a light colored T-shirt cooler to wear than a dark colored T-shirt?

Sunlight consists of a mixture of all visible wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation (light). When all visible wavelengths enter the eye simultaneously, the color white is perceived. Black is the absence of any light. Other colors are sensed when selected wavelengths are present--longer wavelengths are perceived as red, shorter ones as blue or violet.

An object's color in the sun depends on which wavelengths it absorbs and, therefore, which are reflected away from the object. A shirt that appears red absorbs the shorter wavelengths and reflects longer ones. The reverse is true for a blue shirt. So while a white, or lighter colored, shirt REFLECTS most of the visible wavelengths it is exposed to, a black or dark shirt ABSORBS more wavelengths. Absorbed radiation is converted into heat, making the darker shirt warmer to wear.
